With new album Stiff out now, White Denim have announced a UK tour, and are celebrating the news by bringing the infectious grooves of “Ha Ha Ha Ha (Yeah)” to life in their new music video.
Beginning in Glasgow, the tour will see White Denim perform in five cities, before closing with their biggest show to date at London’s Roundhouse. Tickets for these dates go on sale this Friday (1 April).
Posing the age old question “Can you really honky tonk?”, the video for “Ha Ha Ha Ha (Yeah)” features a cowboy making all the right moves around scruffy streets, cheap stores, and empty trains, following the intoxicating aroma of a dive bar.
“When we initially heard the song, we envisioned a choreographed dance,” director Jonatán López explains. “Around the same time, we’d been watching deleted scenes from Jackie Chan’s golden era, and somehow those deleted scenes led us to a particular one with John Travolta from Urban Cowboy. We muted the video, played the song, and thought, ‘yeah, this is it.'”
“Travolta was relentless,” he continues. “He kept trying to nail the dance take after take, and we loved that energy. So we built a video around that moment.”
